Looks like y'all are greened up up there. Always a nice sign and why I took pics! The ash trees are just now starting to green up.

I saw that hood and thought you were using an old Oliver. Then I saw the orange fenders and thought maybe a versatile, I was pretty sure when I saw the size of the chisel.

I'd say you have a good chance of raising some champion corns.

Sam, when can you get seed in the ground up there? We're still freezing at night, I'm not putting corn in the ground for a couple weeks. Going to start melons and such in the greenhouse tomorrow. Taters are up and had a bit of frost on them this morning but did OK. Still covering the artichoke plant and even tossing a cover over the tomatoes and peppers in the greenhouse. They got their tips burned a couple weeks back when it got down around 26 or so. I'm afraid I can't compete on the size of your plot of land though. This is my tater patch

LJ, I love those old tractors. That one is an 835, just got out of an 875 pulling an air drill.
Same engine but the 875 is turned up and makes more HP, bigger tires, etc..
Basic machines but they flat work.
Smoke, we are hoping to raise a few Corn Nuts this year as well.
Geno, I know some guys who already have corn in the ground, right now is generally a safe time of year. Early September can bring a frost so we try and plant a 90 day variety. Last year we had a somewhat cool summer and our corn just didn't grow as well as normal.
We are on a very small scale when it comes to growing corn, 40-50 acres a year.
I bet the taters are gonna be good!

Scheidt Sam.
went out tonight to cover the artichoke and noticed most all of them tater plants had turned black. Still some green in the centers. I gotta hope there's enough "juice" left in the taters to maybe send up some more shoots. They're a good 4"-6" under the mulch so they likely didn't get the frost. Modoc reds too, supposedly developed for our clay soils. My first year with them.
They're covered tonight. I hope they come back as the nursery dude is usually sold out of seed taters by this time.
Nothing like a couple of new taters fried up with some fresh eggs from the girls for breakfast in the fall.
Yeah, I know about the 90 day thing. That's about all we get. June 10 to Sept 11 or something last year.

Planting? Nice. I'm on the offensive against weeds that came with our place. Scorched Earth policy. I'm going for all brown all year with just a hint of green.

Ping pong balls for the win. Once you've wrestled everything else in life is easy. Dan Gable I keep my circle small, I’d rather have 4 quarters than 100 pennies.
