So we have always worn our shoes in the house and kick em off somewhere for later. Well more or less anyway. Thinking about a shoes rack or something in garage before entering house etc. Sure would hate to find a creepy crawler in there though. Any thoughts or experiences?

As a kid in the summer I often kicked off my dirty or muddy shoes out in the garage and left them out there until the next day. Came out one morning, put one on and it had a cricket in it. That's the only memory I have of that sort of thing.

My father told me that when he was fifteen, he put his foot in his shoe and a black widow spider stung him five times. He said he was sick for a day or so but recovered OK. For as long as I knew him, even when he was an old man, the vampires at the local blood bank would contact him every 3 months wanting him to donate blood because he had the antivenom (or something) from the spider in his system.

Black cricket in my boot. Got halfway into my 45 min commute and that thing woke up. I nearly put it in the ditch.

A friend of mine put on his work shoes about a year ago. They were sitting in the garage all night and he never shook them. 3 months later his foot was amputated. Doctors suspect a brown recluse bit him.

Daughter and Son In Law have a "shoe park" in their garage outside the kitchen door. Covers 25 to 30 sq ft minimum. The two of them, 4 kids, plus in-laws and grand kids. Dress shoes, gym shoes, work boots, muck boots. At least 40-50 pairs of foot wear at any given time. Have never had a problem that I am aware. We do not have scorpions. However, we do have brown recluse.

I'd be more concerned about mildew.

Throw a dryer sheet in them.

Me neither. If it's been a bit since I've worn whatever pair I grab. I give them a good beating on the floor and turn them over. Not sure that would do anything, but makes me feel better.

We keep our outside boots in the garage. We've never had any bugs/spiders in them, even during/after the annual Fall wolf spider invasion.

I keep my hunting boots inside.
