Bad? Absolutely no warranty available, and getting one repaired is not only hit or miss, but cost prohibitive. They are neat scopes simply for nostalgia, but unless you are simply trying to find a period correct piece for a certain rifle, I'd avoid them. Glass it typical of the 80's, and most have developed a slight haze that there really isn't much you can do to correct. Most also have very limited windage adjustment, but they do work well with Redfield bases with windage adjustable rears.

Honestly, just about any current Chinese/Philippine/Taiwan optic is lightyears ahead of just about any of the older Redfields. I've owned a bunch of them, and still have a couple. In fact, I just took an older 6-18x AccuTrac to the range last week to play around with on a Marlin .22 Mag. Glass is absolutely underwhelming, but the elevation turret tracked pretty well.

I've toyed with a few old Redfields. Still have the WF 4x that came mounted on a pre-64 back on the 80s, in a box where it belongs. The last was a 3-9 I got when I traded for a very nice Remington model 6. That one was perfectly workable, but left when my pumpgun experiment ended.

No particular reason to replace one you have if it's still serviceable, but seeking one out, other than as a period-correct adornnent for an old rifle, is a dreary idea. Like the other guy said, the view ain't the best, and other stuff can go wrong leaving you in a bind.

Bullets and optics have come a long way. Take advantage of that.

I've got a 2-7x32 on my CZ 452 22lr. It works fine for that purpose, since I'm generally not shooting at extended ranges or in low light conditions. It's far superior to a Barska that's on another 22lr I have. I really need to pull that piece of crap off that one, but it rarely ever gets used anyway. I use more modern optics on my big game rifles.

Those who must raise their voice to get their point across are generally not intelligent enough to do so in any other way.

I had a bunch of Redfield scopes at one time. I had a couple 6X. I liked them.

Have a 2-7 and 4X Widefield from the 70s. Both work ok but dark. They haven’t been used in years.

The one I have is on a 22 mag and I am not fond of the clickless adjustments. It works fine on the rifle I have it on, but I am considering moving on to a 541S to see how good of a scope it is.
