When they were announced, given the QC issues Remington was having, I didn't think they'd really come out... and now that they have, I want one... but haven't seen any reviews one way or the other on fit and finish. Anyone buy or even just handle a brand new 444?

My little brother got one last Fall and it is very nice in my opinion. Put together very well and slicker feeding than my late Marlin made 444. It shoots excellent as well.

Did he order online? Or did he get to inspect in a store? (I could always refuse transfer at the FFL, but that's a pain in the butt.) I've been thinking at some point Remington would get it together...

I will second that opinion. I saw one at our local dealer and was impressed, so I bought it. EASY MOA with both Hornady and my hand loads.

Thank you. I'l have to find the target and post. It's really well put together. I needed a thumb extension (it was missing from the box) so I called Marlin (Rem) and I was ASTOUNDED at the friendliness and response from their customer service. They know they have to re-establish their reputation and they are making a concerted effort to rectify..

My brother just put XS Sights on his and we had no trouble holding inside 2” at 100 yards. It’s a serious hammer in the deer or elk woods.

It will hold a 1" with factory Hornady ammo all day long, too.

I recently bought two Remington Marlins. They are both excellent. I don't think my JM Marlins are any better than the Remington version, I bought them on-line.

I prefer classic.

444 is the Prince of elk cartridges in my opinion. Plenty of power and stellar accuracy out to approx 200 yards. The new Remington built Marlins are good ones again!

I purchased a new marlin .444 last fall, received it in the mail and then went to mount a rail only to find one of the screw holes stripped then when I went to run a few shells through it.It would not feed them and would jam.I never fired the gun.I ended up sending it back to the place I purchased it with a full refund, including all shipping costs. They dealt with Marlington over the remlin. It was the first issue I have ever had with a marlin,jm stamped or remlin and i own a handful and sold them for years.

Is the new 444 available in stainless ? I have a Marlin XLR stainless in 45-70 which I like very much. A new model would have to be stainless for my consideration.

I have one for trade. got it as I had some items a shop wanted and ended up with it for trading fodder. If I don't trade it, it will morph in to a dark series rife, chop the barrel, XS Sites and black furniture.

I've been loading for this cartridge for well over 30 years. 45.3gr of IMR 4198, R 9 1/2 primers gave me exactly 2200 fps and MOA with the 265gr FP. I decided to try the new factory Hornady Superformance with the 265gr FYX advertising 2350 FPS. Tried it with the new Marlin posted here as well as my 80 vintage MC 444. Velocity was right at 2345 and this kind of accuracy. With this new bullet and that kind of velocity, it makes it an EASY 250 yard rifle for whatever you want to hunt. I am VERY please with the new Marlin and the ammo. Just in case, I did order a case with the same lot numbers smile

Note: both are three shot groups after windage correction with a (GASP) Leupold scope... and the two holes above and outside the circles are 338 WM load test.

Nice group!

Lay waste to hogs, I'm guessing?
