CC, did you honestly believe that the virus would "go away" as though by a wave of a magic wand? This isn't something merely irritating, like a bad TV commercial. It is in fact a pretty serious disease. It has been greatly overblown, I grant you, but nobody who has had it and survived will tell you it is just an annoyance.
Second, not a single freedom has been taken from us. We are all more or less voluntarily obeying certain recommendations that will in fact end this sooner than otherwise, and I think most people realize that. When this does taper off to an eventual end (sooner than had we behaved otherwise) all these temporary restrictions will end and people will go back to their normal routines - likely forgetting all this happened at all within a few years, attention spans being what they are.
While I agree with a bit of what you say, I surely cannot agree with much of it.
Most of the lockdown/shutdown mandates are not recommendations; in most areas they are guv'ner's EO's which carry the force of law, albeit, "temporarily", however long the tyrants deem that to be. Some just can't let go..............ALL (as in 100%) Democratically controlled states, by the way.
Further, the "experts" have been completely wrong by an order of magnitude or more, of their predictions, using very old & very unreliable models, that were taken as gospel.
And it's not been slightly overblown, it been horrendously overblown, with the crisis flames fanned daily by the news media.
And, yes, some freedoms have been taken away, like the right to pursue a living.........shutting down various businesses, very, very arbitrarily with no compensation, for 2-3 months & counting.
I cold go on as nauseum......................but the most important thing that you should get out of this (obviously you don't though), is that life in this country has forever been changed & "normal" going forward will never equal "normal" from before the monumental guv power grab. We will never, never ever regain full control of our lives & society again.
What started as a medical issue has now evolved to a 100% politically driven issue.............period, so pull your head out of the sand, just a little at least.
And the next manufactured "crisis" will be much much worse & far more restrictive.................coming soon.
