Point was/is,that it's an epic design FLAW,to cast such roominess in COAL on the S/A's,yet be soooooo stingy with same on the L/A's..
Biggus Stikkus,.. what's the actual max. magbox length of the L/A...?.. to three decimal places if you don't mind.

If Big Stick says it has stuff wrong with it the gun must be stellar. And no, I'm not taking Dip Head or Richard Noggin or whatever you call him off ignore. If I knew as much as he thinks he does I'd be a double genius. Scary isn't it? Be Well, Rustyzipper.

VERY NICE ! !
Love the weight.
Altho not as light I have a 284 on a 98 with 21” bll and Timney. I shoot 139 HBTSP @ 3000 FPS and it hammers WT. I’m not pushing pressure limits because it is what I want.
Makes NO diff what anybody else thinks or says.
Happy Killing.

Very nice!
If I may ask, do you know what the stock alone would run?
I also have a CLR and have been toying with the idea of getting one of his stocks and wondering what his current price was.
Thanks

BB Melvin doesn't send a detailed line item invoice with his work, he just writes down what you are wanting and gives you a total price. But as he was going through the process with me, seems like the stock was right at $650 that included pillars, bedding and painting.

I just had 2 of the CLR converted to 280AI and 30-06 Serengeti by Dan Coffin out in Montana. I should get them back next week or so. I did a couple changes. One was bartlein barrels. I used one of Melvin's stocks on the 280Ai and a Pendelton on the Serengeti. Both have jewel triggers and Harrell brakes. I was told by my buddy that lives out there that the Serengeti weighed in at 5lb 2oz. Looking forward to getting them back.

I have another CLR 270 sitting in the box and trying to decide what to do with it. Douglas barrel would not be my first choice but that's what Melvin likes to use and guarantees with his builds so I took his advice. Used his load data with V140 and 140BTs and took to range to sight it. It shot .75" with it so probably will just go with it for deer season this year. Not a screaming load, right at 2850fps but plenty for deer out to 400yds here east of Mississippi River. If I reschedule my out west hunt, I will work up a load with 160ABs for a do everything load.
