Does anyone have any recommendations for a commercial quality accurate AR15 carbine length (16" barrel) upper?

How accurate, how much are you willing to spend, and how much weight are you willing to pack?

And what ammo do you plan on shooting. Seems like that helps people get realistic about accuracy expectations.

How accurate can they really be? I'm talking consistent accuracy, or something someone has posted in the black rifle challenge. Has anyone even used a 16" carbine in the challenges here?

I'm used to shooting my 20" heavy barreled White Oak Service Rifle upper with its 1/4" group at 100 yards, so my expectations are high. 1" at 100 yards would be acceptable. Whatever amount of money it takes to get that. As light as possible.
My Service Rifle weighs 14 lbs, so I'm thinking something about half that all fitted out.

On thing I've noticed about White Oak stuff. None of it is really light.

Carbines can be just as accurate as rifles, it's just that most who choose carbines do so for other reasons. Get the same quality barrel for a carbine as you would for your rifle.

There's some quality options in this thread:

https://www.24hourcampfire.com/ubbt...ar-1500-budget-build-or-buy#Post14878327

And discussion of Criterion in this thread:

MM mentions Odin in one. I only have one of their barrels, but it's a shooter.

This.............a good stiff 16" barrel that weighs 28-32 oz will be just as accurate as the same barrel (blank) at 18 or 20".

And that WOA Predator upper ain't exactly light.

I have 2 from Ballistic Advantage. Both are less than 2" at 100 yards. How accurate do you need it and how much do you want to spend ?? I really like light barrel now. I wanted that 1/2 inch more of accuracy and was willing to pack around the weight. I won't do that now. I want light and I'll give up some accuracy. It's just money. Pick one out and if it won't work for you ,sell it and try another one. Just me. kwg

This one is as heavy as I want to go now. It's still a 2" rifle with my eye sight and shaky hands.. Probably better with the right guy pulling the trigger.

Columbia River Arms, formerly Black Hole Weaponry has 30% off right now.

For $161.00 for a base barrels with no extra's you can't beat them.

Or $175.00 for their 3 Gun Nation barrel.

AS,

Do you have any of those barrels? How do they compare to Criterion, for example?

I have three of them.

Two in 6x45, a 22" and 16".

I've posted my first 10 shot group from the 22" here before, 10 shots just a tough over an inch @ 100. That's with 90gr NBT's and Imr 8208.

I've built out the 16, but haven't shot it yet.

I also have a 10.5" in .223 Wylde. I haven't worked up any loads specifically for it, usually throwing what my criterion's like into it. It's typically around and inch for 5 shot groups at 100. Of course, that's with a brace, not a real stock, Geissele 3 gun trigger, and with that's short barrel and a light etc, it's not really set up for shooting groups from the bench, but it does well for what it is.
