2014, Lamar Ferguson was walking home from
a hospital visit with his pregnant girlfriend, when
Thao and Thunder approached, told him he looked
suspicious, to hand over his weapons and arrested
him for an outstanding warrant.
Turned out he had no weapons. no drugs, and no
outstanding warrant... but that didnt stop the officers
giving him broken teeth, subluxation, injuries requiring
stitches and other hospital treatment over four days stay.

The city settled out of court and Thao only admitted
to punching Furgeson when his hand allegedly slipped
out of the cuff.

Ferguson alleged they threw him to the ground cuffed
and beat up on him, Thao being the most aggressive
of the two officers.

that might explain his indifference to how his partner
Shauvin treated Floyd.

KARE 11 obtained complaint data showing Chauvin has been the subject of 13 complaints since 2003. All of them were closed without discipline.

He was awarded the department’s Medal of Valor for his service in 2009.


KARE 11 archives show Chauvin has been involved in at least two officer involved shootings. The first was in 2006. Officers tracked Wayne Reyes who was the suspect in a stabbing. The department said Reyes was shot and killed after he refused to drop a sawed off shotgun on officers’ commands.
In 2008, Chauvin shot a man named Ira Latrell Toles. According to police, Chauvin was responding to a domestic violence call and struggled with Toles who allegedly grabbed at an officer’s gun. Toles survived.
Both shootings were found to be justified.

The Broward coward Scot Peterson also got some
prior special awards from LE and was one of the
'most decorated' deputies.
