I've been reloading since 2005, but unfortunately stopped in 2012 and recently started to get back into it. I bought a box of Speer 270 Grain Deep Curl Bullets for a 44 magnum (They were cheap). I only found reloading data directly on Speer's website, but I've heard some issues with this particular type of projectile and reloading. Anything I need to worry about. Speer has the COAL at 1.585" which is shorter than most other loads I have used. Has anyone had any experience with this bullet and .429 caliber. I am using 19.5 grains of H110 to start.

thx

I'm using a deep curl in my 50 AE. 325 gr I believe. Be Well, Rustyzipper.

I have been using them since they hit the market hand haven't heard of any "issues" with them. What sort of issues? Accuracy? Pressure? Terminal performance? Since do use them, I'd like more detail so I can investigate further. Thanks!!

I've shot a ton of 270s over the years. Great weight and a great bullet. My old 38 twist marlin rifle didn't shoot great with some 300s but it loved the 270. I often carry a 310g wfn gc in my 329pd when in bear area but sometimes I carry the 270 speer and still feel ok with it.

I've got at least 7 44 pistols and it shoots well enough in all of them. They also feed better in my 16" rossini 92 than some of the wfn stuff. I picked up a new stainless 77/44 a while back that I need to go sight in and I'll sight it with 270s. I'm also going to try that bullet in my 444 marlin outfitter.

The Speer 270 grain GDSP over 21 grains of H110 is the only load I have ever used in my 1894 Marlin. Accurate, and killers big hogs graveyard dead. White tails too.
I find that it’s a bit much in a handgun though.
