Eventually the gun smith will be done with my Mod. 71 in .348 Ackley Improved. I have a Lyman and XS receiver sight I am deciding on and I can launch 250 grain bullets close to 2,500 fps mv.

I plan on zeroing the sight for 100 yards and would like the option to hold dead on out to 300 yards in 50 yard increments, or at least a 200 and 300 yard hold.

Is there a ladder sight that would fit into the existing dovetail on the barrel and allow me to flip it up if I felt the need? This gun is a Mirkoru copy and has the damn tang safety. I use a XS front sight with the white stripe and shoot off of the top of the flat post.

I'm all ears guys.

I have no experience with this particular sight, but I'm sure it's just like all the other Skinner products, quality.

Hey Rem, That looks like what I am after, I will give him a call and see if he knows if it is low enough to allow my peep sight use until I feel the need for the ladder sight. Thanks!

Try Buffalo Arms. They carry many different ladder sights and are a great company.

I'm still not sure you'd be able to shoot over the ladder sight. If shooting far is the most important, I'd get the ladder sight and use it exclusively or get a rear aperture sight with target knobs. Something like a Williams TK.

Many choices out there. For me the best is the Hoke sight, made right there in York, PA. The short version would work best for the OP's application.

Not cheap, but quality never is.

I only see tang sights made by Hoke and he has a tang safety model so will not work for him.
