Gene, I have ordered some Gamechangers to try in my 270, but like I said, it appears that the darn rifle only wants 140 GameKings AND RL-22 in it’s mouth........we’ll see......

I've used a lot of the Pro Hunters for deer. They shot great in three M700s. Great bullet, but they are a softer C & C, if you run them too fast, they can be explosive.

All my family shoots the 130g Sierra btsp with 59g of R#22 with a fed 210, very accurate, and they penetrate deer from quartering angles.

I have had less than satisfatory results with Pro Hunter 308 150 grain spditizers and 117 grain .257 Sierra Pro Hunter spitizers. I have switched to Speer Hot Core. This is based on recovered bullets from Michigan White tail deer. .

There was enough bone splinter/bullet fragment damage that made it through into the chest that he only went 20 yards or so. Other than that I found them to be hardcore killers of deer and antelope! I loaded them down to 2700 fps for use in east Texas and Washington state and got good performance. I basically went to other bullets for testing purposes but still use them occasionally. I like the 150 grain versions very much and never had anything bad to say about them.

Kind of similar here. I like them too well to stop using them and so far they have always killed quickly.. in My 270 I load them light and stepped up to the 140 for added confidence. My nephew doesn't reload but said he felt the standard Hornady bullet seemed too hard and asked what to use for 150-225 yard norms and I suggested the 140 Gameking. Can say the 140 GK at modest speed out of my 260 kills faster and gets the most consistent performance out of anything I have ever loaded.

I just played with a whole box of 130 gr. Gamekings in three different 270's. In all three rifles I got way better than MOA, mostly three shots touching looking like ragged holes. I loaded them with I4895 and I4350 at velocities of 2850 fps and 3075 fps and can say not a thing bad about how well they shoot. My Encore 270 really performed well with them. I have two boxes of the 140 grain GK bullets that someone molyied and I don't know if I want to shoot them. If I had real grounds to complain it would be that they shoot so good I usually burn them up on the bench.

Based on my father's results I'd take a 270 and130 grain Sierras after deer any time. I used to handload his ammunition.

If it killed the animal, it did its job.

I built my .257 Ackley in the late '70s for my primary deer and antelope rifle. My favorite bullet for that rifle has been the 117 grain Sierra GameKing and in the last 40+ years I've used that rifle and bullet combo on dozens of mule and whitetail deer and pronghorn antelope. I also used that rifle/bullet combo to make one shot kills on 3 bighorn rams, a Dall ram, a mountain caribou bull, and a 6x6 bull elk.
