The wife starts machine gun firing text messages....

I can get all these nails, all of em for $5 .......

Nuther text message.....

I can get all these joist hangers for also $5

She trying to justify connectors are a buck a piece, trying to impress me with builder awareness.

Even though we use brad tackers, pasload gun and screws for anything, she seriously had to have those nails.

Good deals if your gonna use them.

You could probably turn a profit on them hangers on craigslist.

Oh, if it wasn't so far away, I'd drive buy your place when the wife wasn't home and you could double your money. I'd give you $10 for them nails. I could use a stash like that on my 7 Acre RANCH!

last time I went for screws and nails, $4 fuggin a pound for some 1" utility screws, that's $20 a 5lb box. For Chinese crap.

When my grandfather passed, He had every kind a little teeny tiny brass screw, finish nails, lock and hasp, hinges, furniture brads, window glazer points and on and on.

He kept it all in a 1920-1930 ice box stele Crystal brand “refrigerator”

I just wanted the ice box, I didn’t have to heart to abandoned 40-50 Parkay Butter containers full of that hardware.

I’m a hoarder by inheritance

I had Dad's hoard as well as my own. 65 years worth of collection on our little 20 acre place. I left it all there when we came to town last fall.

Son in Law leased a D4 and now there is nothing but bare dirt where the sheds stood that the collections were stored in. Even the little uninsulated one room shack Mom and Dad lived in when I was born. And the three walled leanto we hand milked cows in. It is all gone.

Hell, I don't even have a post hole digger, tamping bar, shovel, wire stretcher, high lift jack, or a reason to need them.

Funny! Years ago an ex was excited to bring home a “score” of tools for me from a yard sale. I opened a box with 15-20 wrenches. ALL OF THEM WERE 9/16.

I have an workshop attic full of that kind of stuff

I can't throw it away because I remember what I paid for it, but I know I'll never use it.

I needed a piece of metal for a brace so I grabbed one of those brackets and put it in the vice trying to straighten it out and bang on it with a hammer, about 2 minutes into it I was asking myself, "what the phug are you doing, go buy what you need for $6". I'm up here acting like I'm 200 miles from civilization
