Son of a bitch, what is wrong with photobucket? Been meaning to get rid of that garbage anyway. I assume no one can see the pics either?

Remember a thread awhile back about rifles too pretty to hunt with. I'd say there's no such thing, but this is about as close as you can get. Beautiful wood and beautiful work.

So this is gonna be my wife’s gun. She was going to attempt to checker it, but for a first attempt she has now seen true wisdom of sending this on and working on something cheaper.
Thank you all for the kind words. We don’t see many like this these days, but I sure love seeing them and working on my own.

Beautiful color!
I wouldn’t do the checkering either. Way too easy to have a permanent dud. Oil finish yes!

Revisiting this because the metal work is done. Bluer called, said there’s a minor thing to fix on the trigger, but should be on her way soon.
I haven’t done a thing to the wood since I took this but I plan to take an inch off the butt, and I think we are going with a red recoil pad.
I’ll be using laurel mountain forge finish. I’ve had good luck with it in the past

Went with a 1/2 black recoil pad, cut the stock down slightly and then significantly thinned the forend. Got the first coat of finish on last night. Only took me two years to do a couple hours of work. Got a ways to go as you can see how porous the wood is still
