Did you guys get whacked with 100 mph+ winds in certain areas ?

Saw that on the Weather Channel watching for info on TS Cristobal.

Hadnt heard for sure but It feels like it’s blowing hard. I’m sure some of the canyon locations will get near there

Been windy for last two days.

Not horrible but bad enough. Yesterday gusts hit 60+ I think.

Today not as bad.

I hate high wind.

Any data from Walsenberg - where the wind never blows?

That was a very rare weather system, for this part of the country!

It spanned 750+ miles in a straight line. In meteorology parlance, it is called a "derecho".

A derecho is a straight line front that spans hundreds of miles. More common east of the Mississippi River in the summer. Not to much out here in the dry plains.

Only 2 major derecho have ever been documented on the great plains. This one was a history maker, and scientists are going insane over it.

I saw it coming here. I ran out to put the cover on the Jeep. Neighbor asked if it was going to rain.

I said, "in 5 minutes, there will be a toad strangler"

30 seconds after that, all hell broke loose.

Probably 60+ winds, and by my weather station, 2.9 inches of rain in 32 minutes (!!!!!!!)

Made me recall the ‘Willi-Wa’ in Alaska where wind pressure builds up on on side of a mountain then comes over and down.

Something to witness.

Wind blew like crazy for about 4 hours during the night in southern Colorado. No snow, but it’s nice and cool compared to the 90+ degree weather that we’ve been having.
