Thanks for weighing in Sanddog. You have experiences that many cannot match and I appreciate your insights.

I ended up with 88ELD, 41 grains of RL23, 2.660".
Have only shot a coyote with it but it left a mean exit. Were you able to get a muzzle velocity on that load?

No I didn't. I loaded some up for deer season and dropped a head on facing doe with it, but I have not settled on a load yet.
This RAR is a strange rifle for me. It shoots almost everything right at 1-1.5 MOA, but doesn't seem to get tighter groups with any consistency. I have only shot 75, 80 and 88 eld's in it though.

Son's has a 22" 7 twist Bartlein. Shooting 88 eld with 40.7 H4350 and alpha brass at 3190 fps. Extremely accurate. Starting seeing pressure at 41.

Interesting update to this one. Was sighting in a new scope with a new lot of 88 ELD bullets after shooting up the old batch. Had chrono running and first 2 were a bit faster but still very accurate. Moved scope and fired third. Velocity spiked and blew primer out. Came home and measured oal with the new bullets. Looks like Hornady changed the nose profile and in the lands now at 2.648 vs 2.677. So new loads were jammed hard.
Going to pull a few, drop charges, seat deeper and work back up. Same lot of powder, same scale, all brass weighs same, same primers. Only difference was shape of the 88 eld between lots. Fortunately had 3 rings of steel to handle it. Not a fan of crap like that, first time in many many years.

Wow, that could have ended badly. Glad you weren't injured.

Good that nothing went completely south, but find it interesting that you blame Hornady instead of yourself for making an assumption. I don’t know how many times that JB has said on here that bullet companies make changes to bullets without saying a word. You changed lots and didn’t take the time to check for differences. That’s on you not Hornady. Good lesson to be learned here.
