Just checked my Wyoming apps - and for the 1st time in 13 years I didn't draw my usual antelope unit cry

Things sure have changed, this in a unit that didn't even sell out just a few years back.

Hope others are having better luck!!

Got my antelope buck tag and an extra doe/fawn tag for my area. My wife got a buck antelope tag only, and my son got a doe/fawn tag only. We were lucky, considering it is a popular area with a lot of public land. I finally drew a deer tag for the area by the cabin. My wife and son were not successful for deer by the cabin or for reduced price cow/calf elk tags. We all can hunt general elk and they can hunt general deer.

Struck out here as well! I was almost certain we’d get deer tags the way I structured our (party) applications! Argh!

I’m sitting on a lotta points I gotta cash out I think I’m gonna next year.

Got my Antelope this year after failing last year. Last year was the first time in many years that I failed to draw as a NR.

Man this point creep combined with the ever increasing number of applicants sucks. I should have gotten a antelope tag last year based on statistics but more people put in than previous. This year I definitely should have got the tag I put in for last year and again with more points didn’t draw. What gives?

Did you put in for the unit we talked about?? I was in for that one also - and no luck for us either??? I hate not being able to make the trip to Wyoming, always my favorite hunt of the year.

I was unsuccessful as well, with a ton of points. Sucks for me.

However, surprisingly, my boy was successful with a youth application in the same area. Good for him!

What happened? Did everyone think COVID would drop demand and jump in under that (obviously false) assumption?

I felt like the potential travel issues coupled with high unemployment would cause demand to drop, but still structured my ap for what would have been a sure thing last year.

I hope this is a sign of general optimism in the economy!!!

Anybody have a suggestion for another place I could still apply?

My wife and I both drew our favorite area for any antelope, and I drew a late season reduced price cow/calf elk tag.

We drew our third choice, but this is our first time to apply, so we had zero points. Drew 17-1 licenses.

Regardless, we're excited to be hunting both Wyoming and antelope for the first time.
