Question for you folks from the North. Do you have those assinine Vapor free gas cans like we do in the states? If they still sell normal cans in Canada I was thinking of picking up a half dozen 5 gal cans at some place like Canadian Tire while up there for a moose hunt.
Anyone ever have an issue bringing them back over the border?

You know you can buy old style gas can replacement spouts.I'm glad I bought all my cans before they made the change, but they do make plenty of replacements.

I buy my plastic gas cans at Canadian Tire in Whitehorse and for my buddy that has a flight service.

Our screwy ones are a real pain for filling a Supercub in the bush..

Look up Scepter gas can. That's the one Canadian tire sells. For a while they were made without a vent and those should be avoided. Might still be old stock in some stores. The newest version includes the goofy vent incorporated into the pour spout but also has an additional vent on the top rear portion of the can behind the handle. This newer design works OK. I like the "4WD - vented" version, rectangular tall box rather than short and fat. It stores better in a cargo hold but needs to be strapped in so it doesn't fall over during transport. Or just buy the more stable regular one if securing it during transport is impractical.

Spouts can be bought at our local farm store. I made the mistake of buying a can at Canadian tire, no vent.

284lover showed me how to drill, and use a thumb bolt, or a eye bolt for a plug for the drilled, and tapped vent hole.

I bought some spouts on amazon, see if they work with some of my older blitz and specter cans. I will need some new cans and I do like the 4wd vented cans at Canadian tire. The smaller foot print will mean I can fit more in my jeep for a gas run.

New US EPA rated outboard plastic tanks are scary one way they swell like a balloon in hot weather supposed to be rated for 5 PSI. Have to loosen the cap to vent.

You might try these. I have them, and the smaller versions as I got tired of replacing plastic cans and spouts every 3-4 years it seemed.

You might get their single on and see if you like it, then buy more. Or even get a 10L (2.5 gal) or 5L (1 gal) one to test.

One thing for sure, they pour quickly.

I hardy pass on a good gas can at a garage sale. The Canuck style do like to tip over, I strap them to the side hook just inside the tailgate.

The slip and fall lawyers in the US put the domestic producers out of business with lawsuits every time some goober head poured gasoline on a fire and managed to ignite himself. I think the last one was in Oklahoma.

There are Nato style jerry cans out there, but with normal pour spouts . I use the blue ones for water and a red one for ATV gas.. Princess Auto sometimes have them.

When I need a plain simple well functioning gas can, I go to our local second hand store. Always has a great variety on hand. Unscrew the cap, tip, and pour. Only two hands required.

I like the looks of those. Far better than what we have to use here.

These ^ ^ ^ are the best ones. They ride
the best and last longer than the blitz ones.
Most all mine have the rubbermaid name
on them. I've got several out of trash piles
where they got tossed when folks couldn't
find a spout for em

Folks looking for a new "old " can
can buy a racing fuel can and it'll
have a regular spout on it
The ones I have left are VP racing.
I'm certain they still make and sell the
same thing still that they did 20 years ago
