Anyone know the size of the C clip on the dust cover rod? Was looking at one of AR pistols today and noticed the rod seems to be out of place. Was sticking out more rearward than usual. Closer inspection revealed the clip was missing. I assume this is something I can pick up at the hardware store, if I know the size. Thanks.

You cannot pick it up at a hardware store. A gunshop that specializes in AR parts or online is your only bet.

Can not tell you the size but the last time i needed one i got it from the auto parts store.

If the rod is out just take it with you.

It's not that hard to put the spring/rod/cover back on the rifle/pistol.

It's small, but still just a common clip. Isn't it?

Yes - BUT - most auto stores won't have anything that small on the shelf, not around here anyway.

1/8" "low clearance" C clip

I was just at Lowe's Sunday looking for a clevis pin, and they had a couple drawers of c clips. I looked through them and they had some pretty small ones. I didn't the exact sizes, but they had a range of sizes.

I know they can be had at a hardware store. Unfortunately the first three stores were out. The box of c clips had a labeled spot for the 1/8 inch, but was empty. Got a couple more places to try.

I cannot find them in stock online either. Hardware stores have been within my daily travels.

Funny.

I called Brownell's to get the detent ball for a Savage extractor. (Don't ask)

He did the computer fu, then ask what else.
"Nothing"

"Well,....They cost $.50, shipping is $8. Let me check something"

He came back to tell me they were a simple 1/8" ball bearing. Try getting
them local.

I did. Fastenal made me buy 200.
For $1.95.

Keep me in mind if you ever need one, or ten.
