I made a towing bar to pull my flatbed trailer around. Works fine, but how can I keep it from raising up if I put a load on the back of the trailer? Kubota L2550.

Cheap/easy way is to run a HEAVY ratchet strap through/to the trailer hitch (guessing you have one below the rear frame) and to both sides of the drawbar then tighten the ratchet strap when you get the height set. I think you can purchase adjustable check chains. Forward weight load on the trailer, secured, is a given....careful on hills, backing, etc. Try to keep the trailer tongue below rear tire axle height. Consider the weight of trailer/load vs the tractor weight. Common sense, etc...

If loading by hand, of course more weight goes to the front. But if I need to load a mower using the trailer ramp, that's the problem. There is a fixed drawbar on the tractor I can use, but it sure is easy hooking up the trailer using the lift action.

Hmm, I'll think you need the hitch always in the high position. This is a picture of Jake's hitch, I hope it helps.

Richard, looks like he has the hitch drawbar tied down to the stationary drawbar which will prevent any uplift. I'll have to check about connecting mine in a similar way.

Wayne, see the drawbar type, that allows for using to tow?

Is the "trailer hitch" made so you can still hitch the trailer to the draw bar, not 3 point hitch of the tractor?
I have always been told to use the draw bar to pull things not needing the lift of the 3 point hitch.

My tow bar connects with the lower hitch arms, like in Richards pics. It's easy to hook up to the trailer when you can raise and lower the bar and put the ball right in the trailer hitch. But it will raise up, it holds weight but doesn't hold down. What I see in the pics, is the tow bar has a connection down to the tractor's drawbar. That will hold it down for sure. Gives me an idea!

When I was a kid we had a set of bars that went from where the top link go on the tractor to the 3 point hitch arms. Made a upside down V shape plus helped on the side to side movement

I bought that hitch with a Schuster gooseneck trailer in 1982. It's been bent, and rebuilt.

I will find out tomorrow, if my tractor drawbar will extend out far enough to the rear, I'll do a connection like Jake did, and problem solved. I bet I can make this work.
