I thought I'd post a picture I got of some old bone grips that came on a Ruger Single Six my brother (348srfun) just got. I would swear that he bought the pistol just to get the grips...These things, in my opinion, are about perfect. Only thing wrong with them is that they belong to him and not me! Got to work on that!

These are imitation stag, but made from bone. I don't have a clue what kind of bone or who made them. The flip side of the grips looks just like this side. I have had a set of bone grips for a Colt SAA but they didn't look like these at all. If they had, I'd still have them. I think he is going to leave them on the Single Six until deer season and then switch them over to his Ruger Flat top 44mag. Personally I hope that he doesn't own them when deer season gets here.

Those look like they're 140 years old. Pretty cool.

They do look old. Look like a lot of hand oil and dirt been on those.

I have a set of giraffe grips of a Turnbull Ruger Bisley 45LC. Before I bought the revolver I never knew they used giraffe bone. Mine are smooth with nice grain. I like the feel.

We swap back and forth a good bit, but I would guess my chance of talking him out of these is absolutely zero. He's been looking for a set of good looking grips for a long time, now he's found them. It wouldn't be right if I didn't harass him some about them...

I looked at some giraffe bone last week, but I wasn't sure if the bone was thick enough to get a set of grips out of it. I might have to give some a try and see how thick it is.

I dig the giraffe grips. One of my favorites for sure.
