I'm told our church is required to have the used part of the build sanitized before, and after each service. I wonder how much that costs. I'm a trustee, but I think our pastor is tired of me pestering her. laugh

A minister is supposed to answer to the board of deacons or elders. You're the boss. Pester her if you don't get the answers you need.

Wouldn't cost much if everyone would chip in and go through the place with a can of Lysol and a rag.

Or have services outside?

She is no problem, we are blessed to have her. I am surprised they have not moved her to a larger, wealthier church by now.

I also wonder about outside services. The local Christen church did the first Sunday this month, Communion members to take their own elements.

Should take less than a minute to wipe down a pew.

You dont need to clean it just wipe on the chemical.

A pastor is a he. Spray the place down with Lysol and worship away.

Disinfection can be accomplished by time lapse.... No covid after a few days have passed. UV will kill it, fast.

As a trustee, you are required to think independently.

Really?

With everything going on today this is the cross you want to die on?

Why not just help a brother out with sound advise regarding the question at hand and leave the preaching between him, the pastor of his choice, and their God?

Our pastor and his wife do a walk thru with a lysol wipes on the door handles, seat backs, sink faucets.

Spray a 1/2 can of lysol walking around, 15-20 mins before services start.

Good enough.

We are doing services in our life center gymnasium. Everything in there is all ‘puke-n-wipe’ plastic and metal. So that makes it easy.

$10 worth of cleaning products, 10 minutes of work. No one needs to be hired or contracted. Keep it simple.

The Rona only lives a few days on surfaces. Just don't go in for 3 or 4 days and forget about sanitizing it.

lol

It’s not surprising, at all, that so many don’t want to belong to such a quarrelsome, disputatious, often hostile, and deservedly infamous group.

Dude asks for advice sanitizing the church, and he gets castigated by other ‘Christians’ for having a woman pastor. smh

The higher ups in the United Methodist church are a bunch of liberals, they want a lot of over do on things like this. I'll like it when they split.

Remember the pro wrestler, Gorgeous George? He would spray the ring with a pump sprayer before the "match".

Great question and often done improperly. I have been in the sanitation business for 35 years and would never profess to having all the answers, but some I have. You have cleaning, sanitation, and disinfecting. Cleaning is removing any impurities ( Soil, dust, etc ) you must clean first. At that point you can either Sanitize or Disinfect. Sanitizing will remove any bacteria identified on the product label and only those. Disinfecting destroys both bacteria and any viruses specified on the label. If you are disinfecting for Covid 19, you must make sure sure that the product you are using is on the EPA-N list You must then follow the label directions exactly as written, if it calls for a 10 minute wet contact time to kill a virus then that is what you must do. You are in-trusted with your fellow congregants safety and you must use best practices to insure you have done all possible in that end.
