Thanks again to Lance Kronberger, John Rydeen and Brandon Hamilton for the hunt and all their hard work. And, thanks to Dewey's for the taxidermy work.

Bear squared 9'10" with 28 2/16" skull.

cwh2, the pedestal is standard. It's only to hide the casters so I can roll him around chasing the wife and kids. grin

Can anyone tell me how to post the pics without having to do a link?

For some reason I see nothing when following the link/s.

Edited: OK. Pic came up. Just had to be extremely patient with imgur.

link vs pic? I dunno, some of mine go link, most go pic. using same bbc to boards and forums. I use imgur also. Maybe something to do with pixels and detail in picture that has to be reproduced?

Very nice bear- love those chocolates. At a distance, with no desire to shoot one, but no objection to others doing so.

Glad you had a successfu hunt.

In Imgur, click on the image itsself (magnifying glass icon). Then right click and "copy image address". Then "use full editor" in the campfire, insert picture, paste the address (yours should have a ".jpg" at the end.

Or, skip all that and just put ".jpg" at the end of your img link.

So it should look like:

Love his facial expression - giving you the eye. Very natural. Great mount.

What a beautiful bear!! The good Lord willing, maybe I'll get to do it one time in my life. Any idea of what an estimated weight would be for a bear that size?

I don't think that monster needs a pedestal to look huge. We all have our favorites in the animal kingdom, but to me nothing is as impressive as a large bear mount. A big moose or bison mount is impressive, but if you go into a trophy room it is the carnivore that grabs ones attention. He has the ability to quickly make you look like a train ran you over.

One of my fondest memories is what we guessed to be over an 8' interior grizzly that we blew the sneak on running up hill through the alders. The long blonde spring coat and him stretching it out like and Olympic sprinter for what had to be a half mile steep uphill run. I hope I never forget it and I am at the age now where I am glad he got away. But, at the time I was cussing my impatience for not looking around more on the last 100 yards of the approach.

Congrats on a magnificent trophy bear!

Bears are not weighed. Skull size is the determining metric, often with the hide square.

A large boar can eclipse 1000 pounds. In extreme cases they can get up to 1500. https://www.adfg.alaska.gov/index.cfm?adfg=brownbear.trivia#:~:text=Kodiak%20bears%20are%20the%20largest,and%2030%25%20lighter%20than%

I was hunting in Nome and watched a big Interior Grizzly run away from us through some Willow. It would have taken me all day to get through what he went through in 5 minutes. They are powerful animals. I’ll never forget it. Very impressive.

WOW! That bear is huge...what a monster. Thanks for sharing your pics and story. What clothing do you recommend for hunting in weather like that?
