In the used rifle rack at the Scheel's store in Omaha. 402-289-5666.

I don't know if that is a particularly good price or just average, but if a person needed to scratch that itch, this would be one way to do it.

I've owned a couple of .458 WM rifles in the past but never a 459 WM. Do they shoot harder?

Sorry, I couldn't help myself... blush laugh

It's not a bad price. They tend to be really accurate.

I think as long as I have had mine and considering all the rounds that have gone down the barrel, it may be a 459.😁

And in 1981 I paid $200 for the new barreled action and $80 for the Brown Prec stock.

Pretty fair price from what I have seen advertised. They seem to be advertised at $700-$900 but I don't know what they are selling for.

I would also say it's a fair price. Actually, considering what you are getting, a great price!

If it is the "standard" Mark X in 458 then I would say that is about right, maybe even a bit high. If it is the Whitworth Express version, (marked WHITWORTH, express sights, european style stock, bit better finish) then I would say that's a good price. The Whitworths ususally go for $700 and up depending on condition.

I recently sold my Mark X 458 Alaskan for $800 shipped. Shipping was $60 so I figure a net selling price of $740 .

I can't help myself either...

a .459 WM would be a RARE gun, and well worth the asking price I would think...

Or the reason I give people who ask why I shoot a 458 ?
Cause they don't make a 459 !

LOL, Phil, I have to ask, did you ever do any bolt alterations to old ugly, straighten, enlarge, or leave it stock swept back?

Thanks.

When you are quickly operating the bolt from the shoulder and doing much shooting you realize rough, checkered bolt knobs will quickly and painfully wear a blister. I did not like the flat, checkered bottom of the MkX so slapped a glob of Devcon liquid steel over the bolt knob and rounded it off similar to the Mauser pear shape bolt handle.

It's lasted 28 years and counting

Good stuff Phil, most of the time, personal customized simplicity 'is' the best route, Thanks.
