...for shooting rats in rice fields in the Philippines. Any ideas?

You will get many varied replies but to me the best headlight is a Princeton tec APEX, they come in a few models. if you are on a budget get the model that takes 4 AA batteries, for a bit more get the model with rechargeable Lithium-Ion battery.
I have both and have used on a daily or nightly basis for more than 5 years.......zero complaints and they work EVERY time !!!!!

Thank you sir. What I'm looking for is a focusable light that would allow me to see rats at a hundred yds or so. Maybe even one that attaches to my scope?

Look at Wicked Lights. I have one that mounts to my scope, and is quite bright beyond 100 yds. I use for night hunting coyotes.

Zebraight H600 or similar are pretty damn good. I prefer the cool white version

Sniper hog lights are really good. They have a great headlamp for night hunting
