If only we could do that at the border of Idaho... Well, one "could" do that....................right? I mean, even the Digital guy in FL was talking about Lord Black the other day.

Nobody has a wheel loader nearby? Looks like a pretty easy fix. Couple haul trucks and a Cat 960/980. It isn't that simple. It also involves what else might be ready to let go. I've been by there many times and always wondered "when", when looking at the mountainsides. Yep, The hold-up was waiting for the rocks to quite falling before they dove into it. Prediction is single-lane road will be open later today. Some of that "gravel" is the size of small motorhomes and will need blasted to break it down to move it. Single lane should be open later today. They'll probably need to do some blasting up on the mountainside, also.

There's been a fair amount of seismic activity not far ESE of there lately. Might have shaken something loose.

Traveled that stretch more than a few times on the way to the Sacramento area from L/C area. Depending on the weather, it might have been the easiest way. And I love less traveled roads as opposed to freeways.

I think that is between Pollock and the rest stop. That’s the same place they had a slide a couple of years ago I was near there that morning but headed home The article says it's 5 miles south of Riggins. That's very close to where the old Pollock Road takes off. If it's north of that, it's closed. If south, they can use the Pollock road. The rest area is south of the Pollock cuttoff a couple miles. That mud slide years ago was just south of the rest stop.

That's one way to keep people from Boise out of Hells Canyon.
Actually, the people from Boise will still be able to get into Hell's Canyon. Turning west off US 95 at Cambridge (well south of the slide) will take them into Hell's Canyon and down past all the dams. The slide plays no role in accessing the major portions of the canyon from Boise. The Pittsburgh Landing area, though, will require a considerably longer drive.

That's pretty impressive.
95 had another slump about four years ago in spring south of Bonners and north of Naples, I think. Easy detour, but later on after the highway was stable, it was a pretty impressive glob of goo they had to push out of the way.

Engage the 4 wheel drive and go over it. There were pictures of someone that did that in the Palmer area after that 7.1 quake broke apart a road 20 months ago.

I believe the club my son-in-law belongs to would drive their vehicles over that obstacle.

Was it near Biden's nose? The whole world is falling apart, and now Idaho too!

Hell, just bring in the SeeBees. Looks like a small challenge for some great Americans.
