Thank you Ringman, that's interesting. Roy, and Gene Autry made wholesome movies for kids. The good guys wore the white hats, drank milk, or sassaoarilli.
Always fought clean, could shoot the bad guy's gun out of his hand.
On a Statler Brothers thread a few years back it was reported that Harold Reed loved Roy Rogers movies, played them in his home theater often..

Their museum has shut down also. At the south end of Lone Pine, California, on the 395 there is a movie museum built by Roy Rogers' daughter and son-in-law. A five dollar donation for adults is all they ask and it is worth it. It has a great collection of movie stuff about the films made there. A ton of Hopalong Cassidy, Roy Rogers, Gunga Din, and modern ones like Star Trek V and the first Iron Man. They even have Randolph Scott's engraved Colt pistols in 44-40. The kindly docents told me to head west at the only stoplight in town and you will soon be at the turn to Movie Road. Two minutes later and you are among the rocks in which your movie heroes shot some of their greatest scenes .

When I was a kid I hated it when cowboys sang. Roy was cool enough to get away w/ it, Gene, not so much.
