My dad had Yorktown shot out from under him and was on Yorktown II, getting ready for the invasion of Japan, and my mom served as a WWII Navy nurse. That's how they met.
TV has become nothing more than the Petri dish where this country grows its idiots.

God bless 'em all.... My dad would have turned 96 last fri. ( July 3rd), U.S.N. WW2 combat vet. Had uncles from that conflict in the Air Force and the USMC. Had a lot of teachers, scoutmasters, and guys I worked with over the years from that age bracket that served. Knew folks that built the Norden Bombsights and Uncle Sam wouldn't even allow them to enlist because they needed people with that skill to stay right at work and keep building them. Wish we had more people with that spirit today.

Just fnished reading Buck Compton's book. He was a 1st LT in Easy Company, the "band of brothers," and later an LA cop, a detective, a lawyer who prosecuted Sirhan Sirhan, and a judge. Google his name and you'll find the book at Amazon.com.
I think those people understood the word "Honor," a word nobody uses any more.

How long before the mobs attack the WW2 memorial? ............... Wouldn't surprise me at all. They'll probably start on that soon. Just this past weekend the moron brigade toppled a statue in a park in Rochester NY. A statue of Frederick Douglass, who was an abolitionist, and also happened to be black, a former slave, and the founder and editor of a newspaper and a famous pioneer human rights advocate. I'd like to know what they thought that would accomplish. Now they're just destroying anything & everything they can. Any monument, statue, or anything else unguarded could be next.

Sounds a lot like mine. Dad was wounded on Okinawa in 1945, army.
Mom stayed home and kept us kids in line.
Dad worked.
Dads been gone since 1992.
Mom is 92 and active
