Along with the UPS. Sorry, that's the 'constant' power source.

Who actually designed the UPS?

Please check on that. Let me know.

Scale Models? That's another topic. Mike Pennimen, Lytton Farm Equipment, Lytton Iowa, told me the 'Toy" companies like Ertl charge the machine manufacture $50,000 to make the dies.

This area was just full of Kelly Ryan/Blair feed wagons in the sixties, and seventies, but you will not see a single scale model.

Wonder if those toys are as popular today as they were?

Fewer farm kids......fewer toys sold?

Did town kids buy farm toys?

I ag bag for a custom guy with a big new holland. I think its an 850?
It really does the job.

Alot of the custom harvesting business is a payment game. They put on as many hours as they can, and flip the machine while its still worth something. Then hope the farmer pays them.

I think he was talking about smaller models of equipment. Like the old pull behind combine, where you didnt have the extra maintenance of another powertrain, or pull behind 3 row chopper, things like that. Combines the size of the old JD4420, yeah it took a little longer, but new equipment cost so much it's frequently better for financials to hire a custom operator. And anybody that has farmed knows how big of a pain in the ass it is to get a custom operator when you need them because everyone else is needing them at the same time. Thats how i took it anyways.

Gotta think that the old designs and supporting files are owned by someone..unless they are public domain these days..

Maybe a good research project for a high school or college kid not inclined to the video feed school thing...
Vocational schools probably have the equipment needed to assemble some of the designs if they can source the parts..
Seems like a worthwhile gofundme.com kind of thing..
Vs some of the other stuff out there...

My brother collects farm toys and lives in town. He's 65. Does that count ?

If you want to experience how fast ag is changing, try running a rotary swathed at 18 mph cutting hay. It takes GPS steering and fields as smooth as a billiards table to do that. It means you are cutting 33 acres per hour or 330 acres in a ten hour day. One man running a new rotary swather accomplishes what 5 Men in sickle machines did 20 years ago.
