Saw a NIB one of these for 1299. It’s blue, has 2 mags. I don’t know anything about them other than it’s a colt 1911. Is this a good price? Should I spend my money on something else? Thanks in advance for your input.

You could buy a comparable performing pistol for a lot less money, but it wouldn't be a Colt...so it's up to you.

Are you talking about a Gold Cup or a true NM, pre Gold Cup.

If a Gold Cup, what series?

Colt is making the National Match Gold Cup again. I think that's what he's talking about.

There is a worthy substitute to the 'Gold Cup'. I suggest military rail gun that Colt sold to public from standard military production line. It came in blue plastic case with papers, lock, two six-round Wilson Combat blackened magazines with alloy base plates. One in excellent condition usually sells for $1200 to $1400. The barrel is stamped 'National Match'. You don't have to worry about NIB because each gun was test fired at Colt prior to shipping. I don't think they're worth $1700 MSRP but well worth about $1300. It's series 80 so it will not go off when dropped. The only downside is desert finish on stainless which does not hold up well at all.

If someone says / wants a real Colt NM, then that would be pre-Gold Cup series, whichever Gold Cup series might be under discussion.

Not exactly the same animal.

I have a lot of 1911's but I would truly love to have 1940-1955 version of the 1911 NM.

If I were going to spend $1300 on a new production 1911 it would be a Dan Wesson.

I have this same 1911. It's very well made and accurate!

This company has very good reputation, Americans say it is the best factory produced 1911 for the money spent.

What do you want to do with it? A lot of folks just starting out in Bullseye are going with SA Range Officers. Less money up front. I got one some years back cheap and fitted a EGW bushing and a larger slide stop. It shoots as good as a purpose built Colt with Kart barrel.

Buy it. You're not going to do better for the money, despite what the Colt haters are saying.

Agree. Like money in the bank that you can actually have fun with. Keep it stock, it will out shoot you.

Save everything that comes in the box. everything I say.

I am up to fifty six 1911's. Most are Colts. But I like them all.

That I doubt, very seriously..............................

Either you can't shoot well enough to tell the difference or you've never really shot a well prepared gun with a Kart barrel.

Thanks y’all, I have a dan wesson CCO in 45 acp and a valor in 9mm. They are great guns. The one I’m looking at is a new production gun like posted a few posts above. I want a full size 1911 in 45 acp so just trying to get opinions of people who have experience with this model. Honestly I’m probably not a good enough shooter to realize much of a accuracy difference.

I'd buy it. The new Gold Cups are great pistolas...a little work and it'll shoot pretty good groups at 50 yds. Leave it stock and it'll do just about anything but win the Nationals at Perry.
