I needed something that had no plant back restrictions with a Canada Thistle chemical I have been using.
Millet or Sorghum sudan grass might have worked.....but they were off label.
Actually, the corn was a similar price as the millet and SS grass. Calling it Canada thistle is racist!  Besides it is improperly named - it originates in from Europe and Asia. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cirsium_arvenseCall it creeping thistle.

Actually, the corn was a similar price as the millet and SS grass. dont know what chemical you are planning on but Roundup really cleans out the canada thistle , so a roundup ready variety might be a good choice for you

If it will work with the chemicals you put down go for it.
The cattle should do good on the graze.
Whatever it makes has to be better than feeding hay.

If your ground is too wet when you plant, you'll get sidewall compaction in the seed trench. Corn roots won't be able to penetrate it and will grow along the seed trench. Tomahawk roots is what we call them around here. If it gets dry, corn really suffers because the roots are all at the surface, not down deeper in the moisture.
I'd wait if you can. Especially since you're planning to graze it.
