The Trooper was killed a long time ago. I distinctly remember it. I thought the guy used a 30-06. I think I was in my first year of college (75-76??)....

It this was real I’d prob’ly pull over and really wish I had my Glock 19 instead of my Airweight. But since it’s made up I can give myself an AR15 or 9mm carbine in the truck and encourage the perps to cease and desist from comfortably of out of handgun range.
Then when the small Black lady Trooper goes into labor I can deliver the child right there by the side of the highway, with the assistance of a stunning redhead who just happened to live nearby who afterwards invites me to her place to shower where she slowly unbuttons her tight silk shirt revealing her ample breasts and gently but insistently reaches down for etc etc etc....

Daniel Colwell's double murder in the Walmart parking lot in Americus Georgia was the first murder I ever witnessed.
I mention it because at the time while I was watching it happen... I could not process what was happening. I.e. It is very strange to watch a reality, but not be able to process it as actually real.
The hypothetical OP with it's obvious inaccuracy of detail and seasonal pre-judgement still allows primal thought and reaction to a wrong.
How did I deal with Daniel Colwell back then?
What would you have done?

The only regrets I've ever had in my life is when I have allowed a wrong to stand or a right to falter.

Kicked up the cruise control another 5mph And I'm sure you'd have really appreciated it if you were getting your azz kicked and someone just drove on by. Spineless chickensheit. Humor is oft times lost on the dumb.

I'd wait till they beat him unconscious, pull a gun on them, take the cop's gun, shoot all three, put gun in cop's hand, drive away and get a Whataburger and shake. WINNER!

it was 40 some years ago now that a local police officer from a tiny town in upstate NY was found naked and badly beaten in the ditch next to his patrol car on a back road outside of town. He was well known to be a huge power hungry ass hole and was hated by many of the local towns people. Lots of folks in town knew who it was that beat him and why but nobody would give them up. The cop moved out of town shortly afterward and was never heard from again. Mission accomplished and case closed.

I have an older friend who encountered a Mississippi trooper wrestling in the median with a black man and his ho. He stopped and put his revolver to the back of the criminals head and cocked it. The ho ran and the criminal got real still. Trooper cuffed him and they caught the ho eating their drugs in her car. My friend was issued a certificate from the MS State Police that was essentially a get out of jail free card. It stated he had saved the life of a trooper and was to be given special consideration by MS law enforcement.

Was the hunter cited for shooting form his vehicle? Too soon? The same thing this guy did. Patrolman Sammy Long was shot and killed after making a traffic stop on a driver for a traffic violation on US 67 near Rankin, Texas.
The suspect, who was AWOL from the US Navy, opened fire with a .32 caliber handgun as Patrolman Long approached the vehicle, knocking him to the ground. The suspect then took Patrolman Long's service weapon and shot him in the back six times as he lay on the ground.
A citizen, who was an avid deer hunter returning from a hunting trip, was stopped in a rest stop 150 yards from the traffic stop and witnessed the shooting. The man immediately retrieved his hunting rifle and shot the suspect at a range of 150 yards, killing him. https://www.odmp.org/officer/8242-patrolman-sammy-charles-longThis. Yep, I well remember that nearby incident.

Driving between Richmont and Norfold on the interstate 63 the other day and saw a police car with blue lights that had pulled over some gangster looking sedan.
As I passed I saw three thug looking men beating the police officer who had been knocked to the ground.
There was no cell phone coverage in the area. What should I have done?
What would you do? You mean Interstate 64? Drove it many times between Norfolk and DC....Always had cell coverage, but regardless, A coward dies a thousand deaths, but a brave man only once....
A good principle to guide me through life: “This is all I have come to expect, standard lackluster performance. Trust nothing, believe no one and realize it will only get worse…”

I would have kicked their dog. That would have pissed the thugs off so bad that they would have gone condition 1 or 2, and left the officer alone.

Got a Plan B? Maybe in this case we should drop our opposition to Red Flag laws? This dude has a bee in his bonnet.
