What have you done with an AR that’s cost the least money and hassle for the most amount of good?

And what’s the most you’ve spent in money or headache for the least benefit?

I’d say that a $60 polished trigger has provided the most juice for the least squeeze for me. Followed by a Steiner 1-4. Disclaimer on the Steiner—I bought mine with a mount for $450 and it has really been worth it. But I looked at getting a second one a few weeks ago and now they’re up around $800 without a mount. I love mine, but they’re not worth that.

Least efficient use of my money had been a VLTOR A5 setup. They may be more reliable, but I haven’t had any reason to see it. And as far as shootability goes it hasn’t been a noticeably substantial improvement over a $20 Springco and appropriate buffer.

With my eyes they're the difference between having effective irons and not under most all conditions..

RRA 2 stage varmint match $79. I'm pretty particular about what I buy for my ARS I can't think of anything that I bought that hasn't been good, or money well spent

Cool that should have been posted in the thread I started about iron sights. The Ultra dynes that I bought for my Noveske have been pretty good. I have no complaints at all even though they were $250

Hard to pin one thing down but I guess the one cheapest thing I always put on a gun is the MagPul enhanced trigger guard or back in the day the gapper was even cheaper. Both of them keep the gap in the trigger guard ears and grip from cutting into my middle finger when holding the gun all day.

Worst thing was 4 rail hand guards without a doubt.

Range pickup brass. Hard to beat the price.

The best so far has been the MB-2.

It just pulls right and breaks like a dream.

Ive noticed a lot of guys like a lot of pulp with their juice. I cut to the chase. Less hassle that way. I do agree with the guy that said range pickup brass too. Brass for my ars dont cost a damn thing. Never a problem with longevity, accuracy or reliability. KISS applies with my ar builds.

I like karate and long summer walks on the beach..

Battlecomp 1.5 muzzle brake. Many are better, few are louder.

I don't know if this pertains or not but last year I built two 204 Rugers at the same time. One got a barrel from Columbia River Arms that cost $300 plus while the other got a barrel from some cut rate AR place off the internet. Don't even remember the name of it.

But guess what. They are both tack drivers with the same load.

I ordered a 20 round drum today for the VR80 ( kinda like an AR).. big improvement over the factory 5. It was only 92 dollars.

I loose length, weight & muzzle blast with a $6 muzzle thread protector. Is the flash suppressor important for the average Joe?

It is for me.

I used to shoot some at night and had a bare 16" barrel, it blasted basketball sized fireballs and bugged me. I went on a quest to find the best flash eliminator and found the Vortex did as good a job as any other and offered the benefit of improved accuracy on some guns.

I did try a BCM model 0 brake and you can add it to the list of useless items that create a giant fireball too.

Best by a long shot was a Presma brake with a blast cover, think it was $27 shipped and still my favorite muzzle device for shorties.

Worst was some high end buttstocks, back to mission first minimalist and love it.

Other than adding a dot sight and a Surefire light, I have not done much to mine.
