Nice looking rifle should be 1964 or 65. The wood is newer but that's a nice shooter .284. Not mine just passing it along.

Pretty rifle, but $1,900?

I'm glad that I was buying them when prices were a bit lower.

Crosnoe Guns gets some good stuff, but I've never found anything he had that I wanted for the price he was asking.

That is a handsome rifle.

More than I am willing to pay though...

It is expensive. I' ve found most of my .284's for about half that, BUT the supply is drying up as more people figure out the mighty 284 takes the Savage 99 to awhole nuther level. That's a nice condition rifle for a shooter.

I still have 284s in 99DE and 99PE configurations, plus four Winchester 88s, but they are collectibles guns, too valuable to actually use.

I can't see any practical benefit from the 284 for the person who doesn't reload, as Winchester/Olin's single 150 grain PowerPoint factory load for the 284 has approximately the same level of performance as their 150 grain PowerPoint factory load for the 308 that is less expensive and easier to find. While the 284 has a larger case capacity, the longer case prevents much of that case capacity from actually being used if the cartridge is being loaded for use in a short action due to COAL restrictions.

Nice, if our overtime had gotten shot down due to the Commie virus, I’d be tempted.

Pretty wood is off an early 1980's rifle. GW

I thought that too at first, but didn't the early 80s E and C have finger-groove forearms? This one does not.

The catalogued 1985-198? 99C's had stocks like that, Keith. So mid-80's.

Course, finger grooved 99C's keep on showing up from 1985-1987 as well. Probably old parts clean up.

Thanks for the post, but it's a bit much for my blood. I guess my quest for a shooter/non-safe-queen .284 continues......bummer

I would call and make a offer. I would pay his price if I didn't just buy another house. And don't even like the later 99's looks great to me

Thanks, Calhoun. That's one of nicest 99C patterns I've seen

If I had a PE in 284 I'd flog that thing like a rented mule. I've got a DE and PE both in 308, maybe I could figure out some unsuspecting chump that'd want to do some trading?!!! LOL

1995 now. Price is going up. If anybody wants it better grab it now. Could be 2500 before you know it.
