Colt Resumes Civilian AR-15 Production as Gun Sales Soar Across US
AFTER CATCHING UP WITH MILITARY OBLIGATIONS, AND WITH A FAVORABLE MARKET, COLT HAS RESUMED AR-15 PRODUCTION AND SALES FOR THE CIVILIAN MARKET

Colt resumed AR-15 production and sales to the civilian market last week, refuting naysayers that said the sky was falling last year. Last September, Colt garnered headlines, as rumors spread Colt had abandoned the civilian market. In reality, military contracts took precedence, at a time when civilian markets plummeted.

Colt Resumes AR-15 Production, Sales to Civilian Market
The news broke last week from multiple sources. It proved what industry insiders have said all along: That it was a matter of fulfilling contracts. Quite simply, rifle sales sunk in a saturated market. So Colt focused on military sales.

“There have been numerous articles recently published about Colt’s participation in the commercial rifle market,” Colt President and CEO Dennis Veilleux said last year. “Some of these articles have incorrectly stated or implied that Colt is not committed to the consumer market. We want to assure you that Colt is committed to the Second Amendment, highly values its customers and continues to manufacture the world’s finest quality firearms for the consumer market.

“The fact of the matter is that over the last few years, the market for modern sporting rifles has experienced significant excess manufacturing capacity,” Veilleux continued. “Given this level of manufacturing capacity, we believe there is adequate supply for modern sporting rifles for the foreseeable future.”

Well, the future is evidently now, with Colt sending AR-15s back to the civilian market. Any why not, gun sales continue to skyrocket, setting records month after month. It’s a good time to send any type of firearm toward civilian sales. For more information, visit colt.com.

6920's were around $1100. That's a significant jump in price from when they stopped production.

We can only hope that the prices on OEM Colt parts will come down.

If you have a LE6920, I'm Jealous. Post a picture for a little relief.

Good news! Wouldn’t mind picking up another pencil barreled LE6720 or two.

Colts tend to be a solid choice.

Yeah, I much prefer my 6720 over the 6920 configuration, especially in semi auto form. In burst or full the 6920/SOCOM has its merits.
