I have two rifles up for a jes rebore to 35 Whelen. If only only doing one which one would you use and why? browning a bolt 1 hunter in 270 win or a 1982 model 700 adl in 30-06... both rifles are about 90% condition. I like them about the same... just seeking opinions to help with the process. All ammo will be factory load federal fusion 200 he or hornady 200gr superformance. With maybe occasional 250 gr remington core lokt. Thanks in advance. Using for whitetails and hogs primarily and an occasional cane cutter swamp rabbit (there are some pretty good sized ones here in ms....lol

I think it probably the dimension of the barrel at the muzzle that would determine which would be more suitable. The ADL's barrel would be thick enough as it's the same as on my BDL. I don't have an A-bolt to compare so I have no idea if that barrel would be suitable. I have at least two rifles in .270 that the barrels would be way too thin and would not work on a rebore. Another, a Winchester M70 probably would work but might be borderline.

Everyone should own a 30-06. That said the 270 gets the nod for surgery.

I lean the other way. The 30-06 covers both range of needs of the other two, but if it's a 35 Whelen that needs to come out of one of them, the Whelen will easily do whatever the 30-06 does on heavy game and then some, while the 270 Win will take out anything from varmints to elk if you so choose to use it on elk. To me it is a more logical two gun field solution.

I would agree with this approach, it covers a wider spectrum.

Which stock handles recoil better? The ergos of those A-bolt stocks turn them all into kicking machines for me. I'm sure they fit others better. I don't want to imagine squeezing off too many full house Whelen loads from the bench with an A-bolt.
