One of the ladies at work just dropped off 500 9mm bullets. She and her buddies bought a 9mm pistol and could not find any ammo for it, so they went online to buy bullets. They found 500 for $60. The problem was they got bullets, not ammo. Ooops. She was going to give them to me for free, but I gave her $20. So now, what does one do with 500 165 grain roundnose 9mm bullets? Load suggestions?

Looks like a good excuse to buy a Colt revolver in 38 Spl/357 mag as they had slightly smaller bore diameters than the nominal.
It is a much better idea to recommend spending your money on a new gun than allow you to "make do" with something you already have. 😃

The box says .356 dia, so they should be fine in 38/357 loadings. I use the same bullets in my 9mm sub sonic loads for the suppressed buzzzguns and one HiPower that really likes the heavy bullets and shoots them POA. If you dont want them, let me know...

9mm 165 gr? Sounds to me like you need a .38 Super.

I wonder how they would work in plinking-rat killer loads for a 358 Winchester or 35 Whelen?

Some load data:
4.3gr BE-86 Xtreme 165gr PRN bullets loaded to 1.150", CCI SP primers. Temp was 82 degrees, 1000' above sea level. Average: 1,087 FPS Max: 1,104 FPS Min: 1,054 FPS ES: 50 FPS
Bullseye 3.0gr yields just under 800 FPS. Should also work. Reported to work well in a Glock.

You definitely need a 38 super to take full advantage of those babies. A Dan Wesson ought to do.
