Has anyone tried RL 16 in 7x57? I loaded 139 and 145 gr LRX and got good groups to the same point of aim at 100 yards. I have not chronographed them yet but soon. Looks promising.

Been giving R16 a go in 257Bob and 6.5x284. Shows great promise so far.

Thinking of trying it in 300wsm.

My 7x57 moved to Kansas with my son, or it might git a try out also.

Now I can not find more powder.

I've gotten some interesting results with Rl17 with good accuracy and very good velocity.

Been liking R16 in a number of cartridges. A case full of it does good things with a 145 and others. Here is some data: https://www.speer.com/reloading/rifle-data.html

I am running 85 gr Lehigh at 3,600 fps in the 25-06 with R16 matching my 100 gr. load in the 257 Weatherby. These will be my two bits and a dollar deer rifles next season.

I am substituting R16 for my R17 loads and gaining temp insensitivity and de-coppering. It works almost one for one on loading varying no more than two grains depending on the case. Put some on your Wheaties for the breakfast of champions.

Speer data is where I started. 45.5 gr is not a max load but still compressed. If it’ll crack 2,700 fps with either LRX, I’ll be happy. Happy Trails

That's the only down side to R16. I wish it had the density of R17 or more, but can't have it all I guess.

I tried it with 130 ABs and was getting do consistent 3/4" or better groups and haven't chronod them yet.

javman,

130 AccuBonds in the 7x57? Did you mean 140 ABs?

MD,

Thanks for catching that, I was reading the 6.5x55 post and still had it on my brain when reading this one lol. I used the 140BT with rl16 in the 7x57 with great accuracy no chrono data due to extreme heat down here and the 130ABs with the 6.5x55! Thanks again MD.
