We ate a lot of sour cream as kids. It used to come in the glasses decorated with different colored dots or different varieties of flowers (people actually collect them now). One of my grandmother’s dishes was sour cream diluted with a little white vinegar, sliced cucumbers and thinly sliced Vidalia onion garnished with ground black pepper and salt then chilled in the refrigerator for about an hour before serving. For those who don’t care for sour cream substitute plain water mixed with white vinegar with the same ingredients.



That's one way to creamed cucumbers.
Or, you could start with fresh cream, or go mayo based.

A summer staple in German influenced areas.
On the table a few times a week, as soon as we have the cokes.
The privately run salad bars usually have it too.

Creamed cucumbers, and BLT'S or
BBQ chicken.
