I'm planning to buy a Montana Vintage Arms (MVA) original tang sight and MVA's combination front sight for my 1904 Win 1886. The combination front sight has both a pin and a blade. The pin comes in two sizes .025 and .045. Has anyone used this front sight, and if so, what size pin would you recommend?

Depends on your age and eyes.
As a wild guess, I'd go for the larger. Smaller sounds more precise, but it doesn't always work out that way in practice.
You might cobble up some sort of dummy front sight on that rifle or another, see how it looks.

I have tried both. I like the larger one better, but I am 58 years old. I would have loved the smaller one even just 10 years ago

I did as suggested and mocked up a two different pin sizes and ended up going with the .045. My initial concern was that it would cover up too much of the target and that did not show to be true - at least at my hunting distances (100 yrds and less).
