I have several Mcmillan stocks on Rem 700s and Sako rifles. I’m considering a Grayboe, for a Rem 700 sporter. For this rifle build, weight is not an issue.

For those that are familiar with these two stocks, what’s the biggest differences between them?

Thanks

Inlets on the McMillans are better.

Weight.

I've seen a few Greyboes that were pretty flimsy in the forearm.

I have 2 of the greyboe’s. A terrain and a ridgeback. Heavier than a McMillan but 1/3-1/2 the cost. Inlet is pretty good on both and both are very rigid. I am happy with both.

Yeah, but you’re still flimsy in the forearm....

Sorry, thought you were Higgins, maybe. Are you like papa or brother Higbean or what? That is the WTH... Danged if I know.

The GB stock I have has zero flex. Nor have I previously heard anyone say they do. Cool. Late or early ones flex? Models?

Grayboe is as rigid as a McMillan. I've never had one I would call flimsy in any sense. They are heavier than a McMillan, but you said weight wasn't an issue.

I have an Outlander Lightweight coming. Weight is listed at 25oz. None of the reviews mentioned anything about flimsy.

Thanks guys. I took a chance and ordered an Outlander. They’re supposedly 25 ounces, and on sale $299 shipped.

Great. Hope it works out good for you. Didn't know about the sale. Cool.

Did you order the Outlander or Lightweight Outlander? I see the Outlander for that price on the Grayboe website but not the Lightweight. Regular Outlander is listed at 2.1 pounds.

No choice on barrel contour? Shows Standard/Magnum only.. not a choice of standard or magnum.

Good question, on weight.
I think I am getting the heavier one at $299 shipped. As I mentioned in the first post, I’m not concerned about weight.

This is the one I have and it ain't heavy compared to the barrel I figured I needed at the time. Haven't even bothered to modify or paint it yet. Just works like it is.

Arrived today. Weighs 27oz and is stiff. The forend is 10.5" long from the lug. I like them shorter, esp for a short bbl rifle. This one will be going on a 24" 6CM.

I like it.

I have a few Outlanders and just bought another from Grayboe during the sale. I spoke with the guy in charge of the custom shop. In addition to the lightweight, their regular Outlander is getting lighter. They will be just a few heavier than the 25oz lightweight. Here’s a pic of mine, which is a new standard weight outlander. It’s a well built stock without any flex. They’re supposed to be updating their website to reflect the changes. No, I don’t think are quite McMillan quality. For less than half the price, they’re allot better value. The guy at the custom shop did say that if you had a preference to ask the vendor because some will still have some old stock.
