Question for all you using a Hill People kit - how hot is it to wear while hiking/running?
Reason I ask: I hike many weekends every year in the Smoky's. We run into alot of bears and more than a few weirdos'. Saw 2 of each last weekend. Both bears were medium/big males I'm guessing, and were fairly close - come around a bend and there they are at 20-50 feet. The temps are usually only in the 70's up high this time of year but I do sweat alot. In fact I quit wearing a hat because it was too dang hot.
Thanks for all the info so far!

bwinters I had that same question and why I went with the kenai was sweating, I believe I am going to try it under a loose fitting shirt but haven't tried that yet. In the end I may wind up owning both, one for hunting and the hill country for hiking.

I like the HPG Kit Bag (runners is thinnest) with a Dale Frickie Zac trigger guard. can you put a G20 in one of these runners?

Anybody tried a g40 in one of the hpg bag?
Or how much extra room does a g20 have?

I have an HPG snubby kit bag original pattern, which is fairly small. I sweat a good bit more under my camelback than the kit bag fwiw. I don't hike when it's much hotter than the temps you described, but I don't find it uncomfortable in any way at all, weight, fit, heat, etc.

I want a G20 so bad but they are just that much too big for my hands. I know this is taking the subject another direction, but has anyone had the grip slimmed down? Can you take much off?

Grind the nubs off, that might help.

Or how much extra room does a g20 have? ...it fits, as does a 6" 1911, in the Runners Bag so it should also fit in the RECON....

I have LONG fingers and they don't really fit me, or anyone else I know... Try a G35 instead...with 1000+ FPS Buffalo Bore or Underwood ammo a bear isn't going to know the difference.

I've been using a HPG chest purse for the past few years during archery season in the PNW. I carry a 4.25" M&P, LRF, and misc. other stuff in it. Temps are cool in the AM, and usually 60 - 80 F during the day. I don't find it too hot.

Maybe Glock will bring out a 10mm version of the Model 48 treatment - single stack?

I have been using my HPG recon w/ my G43 or G19 for conditioning hikes all summer and I sweat like a fat girl. I spray the HPG w/ campdry a couple of times/year so I have yet to sweat through the bag. My REI flash 2000 w/ a 96 oz bladder is more of a heat trap than is the Recon. Neither is a big deal and the value/discomfort ratio is a no brainer.
