So the blacktop parish road ends at my driveway, and everything past that is dirt, and often pretty poor dirt at that (no more houses). A couple of really big holes have opened up this spring, with the hayfarmer's big 4x4 tractor leaving some good 18-24" deep ruts. The holes go all the way across the road and have been tough, even on a 4x4 ATV. Dry weather has hit us and the holes became crusted, rutted pits. Yesterday, the kids spotted something lying at the edge of the hole nearest our house. I got off the Mule and pried it up.

Isn't that a valence off a compact car or SUV?





Looks like something you might see on the front of something like a RAV-4 or an Escape. I can almost imagine some jackwagon tearing down that dirt road in the dark in maw-maw's little SUV, only to run up on that dried up hole at 40mph or so. I bet it looked like a scene from the Dukes of Hazzard...... . They probably won't do that again.
