I need someone to flesh and tan a small 190lb bear I shot last December. I skinned it the same day and the hide has been frozen since. Whoever you recommend should also know how to sew, lol. I'm not a great skinner.

Thanks, Dinny

Contact your local Fish and Game office and request contact info for local taxidermists.

The taxidermists in this area ship off the hides after they charge $500 to flesh it. Then I pay $200-$300 more when I pick it up. No thanks. I'm hoping to find a trapper on the east coast who would like to make a little extra cash ($300-$400) for Christmas in August.

Thanks, Dinny

USA-Foxx charges $25 per linear foot for tanning bear hides that have been fleshed and you pay the shipping. Good luck in your search.

USA FOXX is the last one I would go through. They have a reputation of stealing alaskan furs and sending whatever they have. I know first hand. Sent in some black beavers and what I got back was red. Not the same furs I sent in. They do none of their own tanning either.

I'm concerned about shipping across the country in this heat. That's why I'm looking for someone on the east coast.

Thanks, Dinny

Wrap in a plastic bag and ship. A bear hide ain’t gonna thaw in 4-5 days

If you are really worried about it go to home depot and get some blueboard. Line a big box with that and tape the seams and it will be frozen. I've used Moyles in the past and never had a complaint.

USA Foxx doesn't do their own tanning, pretty sure they use moyles.

Moyle's website states that they do not accept fresh or frozen hides.

Flesh it, salt it and ship it. If you don’t wanna flesh it there’s gotta be a taxi nearby that’ll flesh it for a modest fee..

I'm taking it to a trapper 30 minutes away and he will flesh and ship it to Z&L for tanning.

Thanks, Dinny

I spend all my money on loose women and trapping supplies.....The rest I just waste.
