A Problem, no....multiple problems.
Even to Ask about a Rem forum & the critics come crawling out.....

I’ve been using 700s. 760s, & Sixes starting in the 60-70s and I’ve have and have had
more 700s than any other Brand/Model than all the others.
TO date I have NOT had 1 problem period.

I’m tired of the copy cat, “heard about” etc, etc, and not I’m not interested in the tripe.

Carry on without me.

Mountain rifle contour.

The two I measured were actually smaller diameter than the standard Mnt rifles I've checked. So were the limited run Mnt Guides, IIRC.

It’s fractional, but it’s there - you are correct.

My .260 Ti is .558" at the muzzle.

Is the muzzle diameter the only measurement for determining "contour"? I'd not have thought so... and had no clue how to (where to) measure the way the barrel turns down ahead of the receiver...

It'd probably be a good thing to have a dedicated Remington forum. You'd probably have fewer people stopping by for the joy of thread schidting. Of course moderating out those who can't help but perpetually douche things up would be a good option if we had moderators.

Jerry, before you came here there was a long thread about the different bolt action manufacturers. Long story short "Sucks" was a term of endearment we used for Remington 700's for a number of years.
I'll try to find it and post a link.

I don't have one anymore, so can't give any other measurements.
There are many variables that go into "contour", but, right or wrong, muzzle diameter is what a lot of guys refer to.

No. It’s still very much the mountain rifle contour ... the barreled actions interchange in stocks with a mountain rifle channel, and it could simply be what day the barrels were made on, or by whom. It’s a damn tiny difference at the muzzle and I only measured one sample of each - your measurement is obviously the same as my LSS MR.

Just guessing here, but it may be the 1st gen TI's have a slightly lighter contour than the later TI's.

Absolutely. It’s more than slight. The 1st gen (2001-2006) has an entirely different contour than 2nd gen/Alaskan ti (2007-2009) - excepting the saums.

He should be fully aware of the moniker as he posted in this thread not too long ago. https://www.24hourcampfire.com/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php/topics/14719356/what-happened-to-sucks

Whether he is or not, I cannot know.

From a business standpoint, is a remington forum gonna draw in more readers then are already here, or just serve the established community ?
Would you then have to expand it to other specific brands,,,savage, henry, benelli forums or ?............My Prediction is it wont happen, regardless of the positive responses it has generated........
