What twist rate is recommended for a T/C Contender or Encore carbine barrel? My choices of bullets will be 86 grains and under and my choices of barrel twist is 7'', 7 ½'' or 10''. Is there any reason not to go with a 10'' twist?

gnoahh, didn't Bertram make 25-20 SS for a while? I thought I saw it listed on Buffalo Arms, no? I know I saw some somewhere but I cannot remember where.

Yeah, they did. But Bertram brass is catch-as-catch-can in quality- at least in my experience. The "good" stuff that BAC sold was from Captech (Jamison), but they went t*ts-up a while back.

I have a Savage 23B in 25-20 and have experimented with a variety of flat nose and spitzers over the decades. Oddly, at least for this rifle, it seems to prefer the 75 gr Speer flat nose. Like the 22 Hornet I have found the 25-20 to be a bit persnickity and seems to be sensitive to small difference in a variety of primer, powder, and bullet variations. A great opportunity to spend time wending your way through the variations.

Sleeping Giant shows new 25-20 brass available for $40. www.sleepinggiantbrass.com/25-20-brass

Thank you.

In checking, I find they are currently out of stock. Thanks for the link. I’ll keep checking.
