I just inherited a 700 ADL in .223 from a deceased hunting buddy. Decided after picking up a stock on the classifieds, to convert it to BDL. Gathered up the other parts necessary, thanks to 24HCF members. Gave it a trigger job, a lug bed, and free float. It seems to like virtually anything in a 55 gr. bullet and Ive already worked up deer/pig and varmint loads for it. It has the propensity to shoot. Only downside seems to be size and weight. It is a full sized "sporter", and weighs a bit for a .223.. But at my age the only time I'll be carrying it is walking unto a Texas box blind!

Cool rifle Ingwe. I am guessing it is between 8.5 and 8.75 lb? I bet the additional heft makes it easy to shoot.

I'm sorry to hear you lost a hunting buddy but you'll remember him every time you take it out!
Which Burris?

Which Burris? Burris FF E-1 with the German 3P#4 illuminated reticle ( the gun will be primarily used for pigs at night...)

"Old School", I'm expecting to see a Martini or Highwall in 219 Donaldson Wasp if that rifle is old school I wonder what that makes me? I purchased one of the first commercial 223 bolt action on the market and I was in my 20's then(still got it but it has been re-barreled to 6x45mm)
After the first shot the rest are just noise.

Love the BDL look. My first bought with my own money was a 1973 BDL in 270 for $135,00.

My rifles have put on weight as I age. I lean toward lighter rifles these days, as my father did.

My AW Hawkeye is pretty hefty too. But the walnut stock I found for it in the classifieds jazzed it up nicely. Loaned it to my son and his boy a few weeks ago for groundhog control work. Two down with Fiocchi 40gr Vmaxes.
Very useful, those .223s. Gonna have to whack a deer with it I guess, just to say I did it.
What fresh Hell is this?

That rifle's nice, but I really like the scope. I wish that reticle was still available.

I heard that...I searched high and low, found a couple at near MSRP and finally settled on a Burris Four X 1.5-6x 40mm Obj and 30mm tube with that reticle. lots of them around . Put it on my .17 calling rifle as it will mostly be used at night when ranges are 100 yards or less, so 6X is plenty..
