Somehow a Ruger No.1A and a Browning 1885 both in 30/30 are getting ignored after I acquired them last year. How are your single shot 30/30s shooting? Thoughts? Until I can get to the range.....

Only have one, a T/C Contender. Can’t do any better than a ragged one group at 100 yds. Always takes one shot to kill deer. Might do better if I put some glass more respected than a K2.5 Weaver.

I love my 2.5 Weaver with the post reticle. My contender carbine is a 30-30AI but I did order it from an individual as a 30-30. Glad I kept it as it is a tackdriver.

I hope you're good and ashamed of yourself for that.

Just an old H&R Handi Rifle with a 2-7x33 Leupold Vari-XII here. Only shot it on paper to 50 yards and it tears a ragged hole with Remington 170 gr Core Lokts. Lined up some of the smaller red solo type cups at 125 yards and put a hole in every one.

Mine has a 1-3 Weaver, I’m amazed how accurate it is every time I shoot it.

A Handi Rifle in 30/30 is what got me started in enjoying hunting with single shot rifles. That’s what led me down the path of acquiring Ruger No.1 rifles, two in 30/30!

I'd love to see the 1885 brought out in the low wall version in 30-30.
It'd be lighter and mo fun to carry and use than a high wall imo.
A low power scope would seal the deal.....

I agree! My high wall is heavy and I can’t see me carrying it farther than about 25 yards from the truck to the shooting bench at the rifle range, especially with the 12X Unertl scope.

That's certainly a custom build. It would be interesting to see who actually did the work. I'd be curious as to which size frame was used to build the rifle.

This Savage Model 219 in .30-30 was made some time prior to 1947, most likely before World War II (steel trigger guard). The steel parts were treated in Black Nitride by H&M Metal Processing. The wood was refinished with linseed oil. The trigger pull measures 6 pounds (cannot be safely reduced), but is nevertheless quite shootable (target is with 30-150-FNGC and SR4759 at 100 yards over sandbags).

NICE! I love the 30/30 round...

my Unicorn is a Model 54 in 30/30 in that kinda shape...

a single shot Savage 219 would make a good second ...

Love yours!

If you are considering something different take a look at the Chiappa little Sharps in 30-30. I have one and it is light weight and fun to shoot. Accuracy with mine seems to be in the 1 1/2" - 2" MOA but I have only tried a few load variations. The set trigger works well with bench shooting and without the set trigger the primary is crisp on my rifle. They make it in 30-30 and 38-55.
