I’ve never been around performance cars much. My buddy had a new GTO (Holden/Australian) with the 6.0 and 6 speed. It was enough to make my wife freak out, and I didn’t make it out of 3rd gear.
Then 2 or 3 years ago we were in Vegas for a wedding. Sick of Vegas after a day. Decided to rent a car and get out of town for the day. Choices were a minivan for $100/day, or a Corvette for $140. Easy choice. We out nearly 600 miles on it that day. Zion and Bryce Canyon National Parks were fun in it. It also was enough to make my wife freak out. Kinda started off wrong when she pulled out of the parking garage onto Vegas Boulevard, I told her to punch it, and she went completely sideways. Crying. Good times.

It would be a toss up between a 1964 GTO with the Hurst close ratio 4 speed and a factory Holly 6 pack or a Maserati which was nice but nowhere near as tough.

I had nearly the exact car but a 1978 haha. Someone weirdly ordered it with 2.73 rear end. i was always impressed that car would roll the tires with that long ass rear end. The speedometer read to 140. One time i had that car past 140 and pointing straight down with that long gear.

Now, this is a very solid, classy and great running car - but the one I drove around in 1957 was not the definition of quick - or nimble.

1965 mustang before dad got rear ended. 1967 mustang also dads. Used to detail a late 1980’s 300zx for a lady. Air drying the car was always fun especially for a 21 year old. Drove buddies RX-7 and Mitsubishi Eclipse. They were ok. Had a 1990 Ford Mustang 5.0 HO, 5 speed that would fly. Had it at 130 with pedal left to go. Lexus LS 400 with the air ride suspension, sport suspension and ect control was no slouch. I still miss police package Crown Victoria’s.

65 Plymouth Valiant three on the tree :-) Makes me smile. I learned to drive in a two-tone (red & white) '62 Valiant with a 225 slant-six and a push-button automatic transmission.

Sunbeam Tiger around 1973. My brother in Denver owned it and he let me take it for a day trip up into the mountains and a stop at the Coors Beer plant. Memorable day.

Morgan plus four - 250+ hp - weighs about 2200lbs - Awesome! I've driven a couple of Morgans - classy and fun car - and now something is telling me wooden frame or under components. Is that the case? Anyway - what did they do to squeeze 250 hp out of that straight banger?

I've had lots of fast cars- A 68 GTO with the 400 hp/HP 400 and four speed was pretty fast for a 17 year old, my 64 Chevelle was pretty fast, a BMW1800 Tii I had when I was stationed in Germany in the army was a jewel to drive down the autobahn at 135 all day long and didn't even get warm. Built a V8 Vega while in the army with a Z28 engine in it tuned to around 475 hp. Made a couple sphincters contract so bad when I took guys for a ride I though they were going to faint.... drove a lot of buddie's cars that were very fast also- a 64 Sport Fury with a 426 Hemi transplanted into it, my army buddy's AAR Cuda from Fort Lewis to Portland in an hour and 25 minutes for 165 miles and his 71 Mustang GT 500 with a 550 hp 428 was also a kick in the ass.... even got to test drive a Lambhorgini 640 LE once and I was very impressed with the power and the all wheel drive traction. Almost lost some fillings launching that thing... I'm sure I'm leaving out a few...
However, the one car that still scares me a little every time I drive it is the Cobra replica I built from scratch- not a kit car... Carbon fiber body, original style chassis, 5 speed, 351W stroked to 393 at 525 hp, and weighs around 2000 lbs. Every time you get in that thing and buckle into the race style harnesses, you feel like it might be your last time. The sound of the side pipes as you row through the gears and the air blowing over your head over the windshield is nirvana on a bad day.... scared the crap out of almost everyone who has ridden in it with me ... but it is so darned impractical it is going down the road soon for something a little more every day driver style- like a 67 Nova SS with an LS7 in it , seriously upgraded suspension, and seats like a race car that lock you into place....
Damn, I love fast cars....

Nissan gtr is the fastest.
I did the Ron Fellows school of racing in Nevada in a new corvette a few years ago. The C7 corvette handled surprisingly well on the race track. I set the track high speed for my class. The second place guy was about 18 mph slower than what I got upto in the straight away. I came into the corner of the straight away a little hot but it held through the corner.
Everyone was boasting after the last day saying I hit 102 and I hit 104 etc. When my instructor said Justin hit 122 even the other instructors didn't believe him but he had it on video.

Jags VP & E, MGA. I had intended to drop a 289 in to the MG, but never got around to it, a vette, and a 944.

I did leave out one good story- my younger brother and me would go around to dealers on Saturdays when we were bored and test drive fast cars- which is how I unintentionally ended up with my 68 GTO... Considering this was in 1970/71, there were LOTS of fast muscle cars to test drive at local lots... so, one day I stop at a lot and the eager salesman in his 50's comes out and spots me right away and leads me over to a Hemi Road Runner on the lot.... he asks me if I want to test drive it and of course, I calmly said why not? We get buckled in and my younger brother is in the back seat and we drive out of the parking lot and up to the freeway entrance which is only a block away... I'm being careful not to scare anyone off too early in the test drive so I'm driving like an old lady going to church... the salesman says "punch it", "see what this baby can do".... big mistake.... when the smoke from the tires cleared I was launching down the entrance ramp and hit 135 before I got to the merging lane, turned on my blinker and merged at about 140 and then I slowed down a bit to around 100. The next exit ramp was about a mile down the road and I could tell from the tears in the salesmans eyes I had worn out my welcome, so I took the exit and tooled back to the dealer... once I stopped, the salesman got out of the car and walked into the showroom and never said a word to me... and I was thinking about buying the car, too.... I've had 2 that were memorable:
1. 2002 BMW Z-3 Convertible - One time west of San Antonio on I-20 where you can see for miles in either direction, I cranked it up to 140 on the speedometer. It was floating and the convertible top was rock solid....... Cruisin'.......
2. 2015 Chevy Camaro SS - the paddle shifters definitely made the 6.2 L 455 hp engine jump. Brute force when you asked for it. The first time my wife rode in it on a wide-open Interstate, I was doing about 75 behind 2 other vehicles, and I eased into the passing lane and punched it. In the short time that it took to get around the car and pick-up in the other lane and back into their lane, the digital odometer read 122 mph. One of the few times I've heard my bride of 50 years say, "Holy [bleep]...!!!"
It's official. I missed the selfie deadline so I'm Maser's sock puppet because rene and the Polish half of the fubar twins have decided that I am.

Damn, some of you folks have driven some real dream cars! My sportiest ride so far was has been my 1980 Alfa Romeo Spider. Originally with Spica mechanical fuel injection but more recently running dual side-draft twin-throat Webers (45 DCOE's), 11mm lift cams, European headers and Super-Sprint exhaust system, Porsche 914-6 clutch and pressure plate, lowered on a set of Ward & Dean springs with Yokohama A008 autocross tires (lately running Falken RT615K+'s). This little thing is far from the fastest car on the road (not even close), but it's quick enough to raise my heart rate ... and it corners like a slot car. Best of all it never fails to put a smile on my face when I take it out to play.
