The best was pure American Muscle, ‘69 427 Stingray, black over red convertible.

Second would have to be Grandmas ‘70 Nova SS. She really never knew what she had. I wish I would’ve bought it from her. Scary fast outta the hole.

‘71 MGB. Not fast or loud, but sexy and a whole lotta fun to drive,

My favorite I did not drive, but was merely a passenger. My buddy Doug’s ‘65 Shelby Cobra GT350. He was one with the car. I was mesmerized. Best ride I’ve ever had before or since. My buddy Doug hired me and was my bosses boss for 10+ years. He was MACV-SOG. Two tours. Helluva man. The Orange got him in 2016. RIP Doug

5 or 6 Corvettes
440’s, Hemi’s, Road Runner’s, and GTO’s back in the day
Fox body 5.0 Mustangs. Still a Calypso Green ‘93 LX in the garage.

Blood red 1974 De Tomaso Pantera. Engine work in NC before I got it. Body work and interior restored it to European specs.

Fast and quick enough to scare me a couple of times. A corvette killer.

They got those cars right. I actually followed a GTR on the way to work the other day. He was doing 35 in a 40 so I rode his bumper until the straightaway. The car took off before I heard it. I would love to drive a GTR someday. 900hp out of a 6cyl.

...........................Well the average guy or gal who drives any kind of a sports car, like 99.99% of them, will never drive it as aggressively on the streets as one would when going around a track through S curves and such. Imo, why own a sports car with a potential of 1G or better performance that excels with very low lap times if one never uses a track, has no access to a track and could never drive on the streets simulating a track and do so safely!!. Never going to use that type of car's full potential on the streets.

However. Thrills, drive ability, dynamics and just good 'ol plain fun can be had other than going around and around on a track.

Hence, I would go with my neighbor's 2019 Dodge Challenger Hellcat RED EYE wide body!...........797 HP and IIRC over 700 lbs of torque. I could be wrong on the torque. Std 707 HP Hellcat has 650 lbs. He and I took a little jaunt to Barstow then out to Ludlow on Int 40 one afternoon. Ya gotta go 100 miles or better to really open this beast up because I wanted very little traffic...I took over the wheel in Barstow and headed east. Floor the pedal at 70 and 80 and the damned thing still spins the rear tires.....But once they hook up? See ya! LOL...70 or 80 mph up to 140 mph in just a few seconds. I held 140 mph for about 15-20 seconds and it felt like I was going 60. Smooth as glass...Top speed on the Challenger Red Eye is about 203 to 205 mph....Aaaaah no!

Owned a 2008 Corvette Z06 with a 427 and a 6 speed manual for 6 years in Jetstream Blue. Sold it last year never trusted the LS7 motor. Week link with the valve guides motors even with very low miles blowing. It's so bad there a class action suit against Chevy over the issue. I was lucky with mine but I didn't want to push the issue. After 6 years I was over it.

I've had a 280ZX, a 1968 Chevelle 396 and a 2000 Corvette, but the most fun to drive, not the fastest, but the most fun is a Lexus SC 430. It's 18 years old with 100K miles but still has plenty of haul azz left in it. It handles great and has plenty of room for my 6'4" size. Going to keep this one.

My very first, 1964 Triumph Spitfire. I'm 6'2", so I didn't so much sit in it as wear it.

47 Mercury convertible with a bored and stroked flathead V8- - - -first car I ever bought. Paid the original owner $75.00 for it in 1962 and drove it home. The hotrod engine came later, using leftover parts from the family race car, a 34 Ford 3-window coupe running on alcohol and Hydrogen Peroxide. Somewhat later, a Sunbeam Tiger, a Datsun 240Z, a Mazda RX-2 rotary, a Porsche 928, a Morgan +4, a DeTomaso Pantera, and a bunch of 1/4 mile dirt track modified cars. Fun times!

I’ve had several

I love my current ride, an Audi RS5. It has the ability of a super sport coupe, with a lot of sophistication.

That is one of my favorite cars. Had a 75 Spider Veloce back in the day. Fun cars with an Italian attitude.

Have driven the viper

Acura nsx, sexy lil car for sure

And a ‘96 911. It gets the win, but the ride sucked as it started raining with temps right around freezing so never did load it up like I’d have preferred. Not all girls get their panties wet over the 911, but the smart ones do.

Some of you guys have driven some fantastic cars, as happy for you as a jealous man can be 🤷🏻‍♂️

A 1966 XKE Jag or a 1961 Corvette with a fueler 283. I preferred the Vette.

Now it is a 4x4 Tundra 2013 (Rock Warrior) and a Tacoma (2020 TRD Off Road), If that is too boring I still have a Virago around here someplace.

Ive been able to score a few others but those are my top three rides in my life.

A friends EX drove a Testarossa in 61 in Monaco........ missed by 3.6 seconds. And was the one that really blew by the Ferraris at LeMans. It wasn’t Ken Miles.
My best drive was a Lotus Europa

Best supercar I ever rode in was Gary Cooper’s SSJ........probably the first Supercar........could outrun a 73 Ferrari......and was a 1933 model.

71 ZL 1 Camero....LS7 454 in it Was paid to go up to Belleville Illinois to pick it up and dealer it to the owner in Dalton Ga...
Road up to Belleville IL, with someone who was escorting a house trailer from the factory in Georgia...

Turned down the dash lights and put CCR on the 8 track... made it the 110 miles from Nashville to Chattanooga in just under 50 minutes...and that included going over Mont Eagle TN...

delivering it from Chattanooga to Dalton GA the next morning, a Sunday, down I 75.. we ran the speedomter to 160 mph , at least that is what it was registering...

The spare time was mounted where the back seat was suppose to be.. car had a roll cage...

The trunk was pretty much ALL gas tank.... Sunoco 260 gas was what the dealer said the engine called for...fuel tank was 60 gallons plus....

I've owned multiple supercars: Ferarri, Porsche, Lambo, Lotus, as well as Saleen and with all said, considering your parameters of:

"Don't only think fastest or most powerful, but consider handling/drivablity/dynamics etc, and just plain good fun"...

my top two are Aston Martin...Vantage and DB11...

Had a 68 XKE convertible for only about 6 months. It was hugely problematic and 4-5 times the cost of American cars to work on. I couldn't afford it, but it clearly qualifies as one of the sportiest I've ever driven when it was running correctly. (Which was seldom.)

The MOST fun car I've ever driven was a 1964 Porsche 356C 1600 SC Cabriolet. White with red pleated interior. Driven in the mountains just above Lakeside, CO. I'm sure it would have been a costly nightmare to work on as well.
