It encases the knife all the way to half of the Kraton handle and will never let it slip out! Had to make a new guard to replace the Kraton coated one it came with. One Hell of a knife, sharp as Hell, perfect balance, strong, but lightweight! A perfect knife for carrying. I can post photos upon request.
